Every contribution directly supports families in our community!
Behind every literacy kit, every student smile, and every big dream is a team that believes in the power of reading.
Your support will help a child’s journey as a reader begins long before they enter a classroom.
The Eastern Reading Council (ERC), a student-led organization at Eastern Washington University, is working to support early literacy in our local community by addressing the “million word gap” through newborn literacy kits distributed in partnership with local hospitals. Each kit will include a children’s book and simple, family-friendly guidance to help parents build language and literacy skills from birth. Helping children develop strong foundations for future learning.
How your support can help:
$10 provides a book for one family
$25 helps fund a complete newborn literacy kit
$100+ supports multiple families and expands community outreach
Why It Matters: Reading to your baby helps build language skills, supports brain development, and lays the foundation for a future of learning!
