Leave Their Mark This Holiday Season
Give the Gift That Builds The Future
Your gift helps students today and in the future achieve academic excellence, and bricks are a great opportunity to congratulate a recent grad, celebrate a degree or accomplishment, or honor a loved one. Your personalized brick in Showalter's historic walkway provides a unique opportunity to support EWU and gift a piece of history to a friend or family member.
In 1915, alumni and students created a gateway to campus. Comprised of two prominent stone pillars, it was designed to send a message of hope and renewal in the aftermath of the Cheney Normal School fire of 1912. Stone and granite from the original school were used to build the monument—pillars which would become known as the Gates of Knowledge.
Each September, new EWU students mark their first steps on campus as they walk the pathway through these iconic stone pillars leading to Showalter Hall. This Eagle tradition, known as "Pass Through the Pillars," is one of the most memorable in a student's experience at EWU.
In three lines of 20 characters each, you can recognize a major, a graduation date, or a fateful meeting or forever friendship. Mark athletic or leadership achievements, generations of Eagles, or even a funny sentiment only a few will understand, like:
In my next life, I
want to be an Eagle!
- Boo the Best Dog
